About the Power of Mirrors
The use of mirrors is so commonplace that it we usually employ them without
a lot of thought. In the most mundane sense we hang up a mirror 'to see how
we look' as well as to be able to groom ourselves, and because of this they
are often called 'vanity mirrors'. In other situations, though, we will
hang a mirror just because it feels right. When we find ourselves trying to
figure out a way to change the feel of the space, we are moving into the
realm of feeling the Feng Shui, or the movement of Chi.
Mirrors have often been called 'the aspirin of Feng Shui' because they can
cure so many unhealthy situations. They have many varied uses, and in
every case they perform a very valuable service. The reflective energy of
a mirror can be used to expand Chi, extend Chi, reflect Chi and attract
Chi. A mirror can be used to cancel out or eliminate bad Chi. It can be
used to attract or bring in auspicious Chi, and enable the Chi to flow
smoothly.
A mirror can entirely change a bad situation, such as a dark cramped space
where the Chi is trapped and stagnant. A classic example of this it the
placement of a large mirror along a dark and narrow hallway. Immediately
it will create a sense expansion, roominess, and light up the hallway
astonishingly.
The reflective quality of mirrors is used to 'make things disappear' such
as weight-bearing supporting columns which are used instead of a wall,
which can often be found in large rooms. These columns often block the
flow of Chi, but paving them with long mirrors reflect the energy help the
Chi of the room flow more easily.
A well-placed mirror can provide tremendous relief to someone whose back is
to the door, or who cannot see the door from where they are positioned.
This situation is not to be taken lightly! When you cannot see what is
going on behind your back, even if your mind tells you that you are safe,
the fact of the matter is that your body is just a step or so away from
prehistoric cave-dwellers of ancient times. Which means your animal
instincts are still alive and well! Even if you have been trained to think
that you are in a safe society, your body is not calm and accepting of your
mind's ideas! That body of yours is always on red-alert, though you are
rarely aware of it. How many men do you know that will, if given the
choice, sit in a restaurant with their backs to the door...
and a woman will
only be willing to place herself in that position if she has someone she
trusts sitting opposite her to protect her from The Unseen. Call it
subconscious, call it subtle energy - the point is that even though you
'take for granted' that you that you are in a civilized country and that
law and order protects you, your body will have none of that! Its job is
to protect you.
Often, to save space the desk is placed to our extreme disadvantage without
our even realizing it. That means that the computer and all the electrical
stuff is out of the way, against the wall but it also means that in order
to work you find yourself facing the wall, often with your back to the
door. "This arrangement makes sense", your mind thinks, but your body will
not agree. What you are really doing is setting up the conditions for
mental and physical anxiety and nervousness, caused by that awkward
situation you body loathes: not knowing what is going on behind your back.
Let The Monitor Mirror come to your rescue! It attaches to the monitor of
your computer in two ways:
- Use the velcro strip to fasten the mirror horizontally to the front top
panel or you can fasten it vertically to the front panel on the left or
right side.
- Place the mirror in the acrylic foot, which has adhesive tape on the
bottom, so that you can place it on top of the monitor itself.
Your Monitor Mirror also comes with a 2" or 3.75" convex mirror to place on the
mirror in whatever position is to your advantage. Do this after you
install up the mirror itself
To make the most of the positioning.
You will see that your body will be most grateful, and reward you with a
great deal less stress. And to think it was all because of a well-placed
mirror!
